Duplex with double-height living room

Description

The living room rises through two levels. The staircase is a run of solid walnut treads with no visible stringer, held by steel rods; the ceiling is battened in timber over the lower part and left white above so as not to crush the volume. The kitchen is finished in black lacquer with a five-seat island that works as a division rather than a piece of furniture. Upstairs, the main bathroom is clad in green onyx with gold fittings. A study behind a glazed partition completes the floor.
